Optional Ballet Competition Opportunities

Dedicated dancers the opportunity to participate in select ballet competitions, designed for serious students seeking additional performance experience and artistic growth.

What Are These Competitions?

Northeast Atlanta Ballet offers dedicated dancers the opportunity to participate in select ballet competitions. These programs are completely optional and are designed for serious students who want additional performance experience, coaching, and artistic growth.

Participation in competitions is not required for placement, advancement, or casting in our school.

We currently support optional participation in the following events. Families can visit each organization’s website for the most up‑to‑date details, rules, and schedules. For full rules, age divisions, and schedules, please refer directly to the YAGP, UBC, and ADC|IBC official websites.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP)

Youth America Grand Prix is an international student ballet competition that offers master classes, stage experience, and scholarship opportunities. Dancers prepare classical and/or contemporary variations and perform for a panel of judges. YAGP events are typically held throughout the season in regional locations, with a final round in New York.

Universal Ballet Competition (UBC)

Universal Ballet Competition is a student ballet competition that focuses on strong classical technique and performance quality. Dancers present classical and contemporary works and receive feedback from a professional jury. UBC hosts regional events in multiple cities, with a national finals event each year.

ADC | IBC

American Ballet Competition / International Dance Competition (ADC|IBC)

ADC|IBC is a ballet and contemporary competition that brings together serious students from across the country and abroad. Dancers perform classical and contemporary pieces, attend master classes, and may be considered for scholarships and training opportunities. Events are held annually at designated venues. Who Is Eligible?
  • Be in an appropriate level for the variation or piece being prepared
  • Demonstrate strong classical technique and work ethic in class
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Show maturity, focus, and respect in rehearsals and performances

Competition participation is by teacher recommendation and director approval only. Final decisions regarding participation, repertoire, and casting are made by the Artistic Director.

Speak with Teacher

Speak with your teacher to see if competition work is appropriate at this time. They will evaluate technical readiness and artistic maturity.

How to Express Interest

If your dancer is interested in being considered for YAGP, UBC, or ADC/IBC, please follow these steps. Submitting interest does not guarantee participation; all placements are at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

Email the Office

Email the office with your dancer’s name, age, and current class level to request consideration. This ensures you are on the list for director approval.

Attend Information Meetings

Attend studio information meetings regarding plans, expectations, and timelines. Important logistical and financial details are covered here.
